This celebration was prepared for 3 years starting in 2010. The intensive preparation took one month. Over thousands of people from the whole diocese of Kengtung and some from the whole country joined the celebration. The main 3 days were celebrated with the themes, gratitude for the past, enthusiasm for the present and hope for the future “Remember, Rejoice and Renew.” One of the essential components of the jubilee was the Symposium on Evangelization, which was held 3 days.
The first day liturgy was presided by Archbishop of Taunggyi, His Grace the Most Rev. Matthias U Shwe. In his homily he emphasized the main needs of the evangelization: sacrifice, prayer and witness.
The second day liturgy was presided by Bishop of Kengtung, His Excellency the Right Rev. Peter Louis Caku. In his homily, he reflected the mission of Kengtung diocese with its success and weakness.
The third day liturgy was presided by the Archbishop of Yangon, His Grace the Most Rev. Charles Bo. In his homily, he emphasized on the gratitude for the past, enthusiasm for the present and hope for the future, which is the essence of Jubilee outlined by Blessed Pope John Paul II.
It was remarked by the local people that this Jubilee celebration was the most attended feast in the history of Kengtung town
